Skylines | Cities Across America

I was passing through Columbus, OH in 2021. After about 8 hours of driving, I was tired, but I couldn't resist the view I saw driving into the city. I had to take a walk downtown and capture this beautiful skyline.

Having passed through Grand Rapids, MI many times over the years, I have always loved the downtown area with the river splitting the city in two. On this particular day, I spent a few hours by the river waiting for the perfect lighting to take this long-exposure shot of the city. It's one of my all-time favourite photos to-date.

In 2023, I traveled to Detroit, MI to see a musical performance and managed to explore the riverside with a family member for a few hours before the show. I was struck by the abandoned properties that are scattered throughout the city. More than that, I was inspired by the city's dedication to rebuilding and creating beautiful/safe spaces for the public to enjoy the city.
